| Dear friends,
June 2 marked the official reorganization meeting of the Knox County Democratic Party. Central committee members who had been elected as Knox Dems representatives of their precincts met to be sworn in and to elect Knox County Democratic Party officers. The results of that election were as follows:
The full, current list of precinct captains is available on our website. And, per the Knox County Democratic Party bylaws, additional precinct captains can be nominated and elected by the central committee. If you are interested in representing your precinct for the Knox County Democratic Party, please contact me at kathytate@knoxcountydems.org. You can learn about the responsibilities of the Central Committee members by reviewing our bylaws here. We’re Talking with Voters — At Their Doors, At Events & In Our OfficeThe beginning of June also marked the start of our Listening Campaign. More than 20 volunteers have been trained and are going door-to-door all over Knox County to talk – and more importantly, to listen – to Unaffiliated voters. These voters are people who have not voted in a recent primary and therefore have no party designation. We are trying to understand where they stand, so we can know how best to help them as the midterm election nears. If you’d like to join us, we have two more trainings scheduled – on June 23 and June 27. More details can be found here. The summer events season has also begun. We had a booth at the recent First Friday in Mount Vernon and were busy getting signatures on a petition to ban further construction of large data centers in Ohio as well as the Ohio Equal Rights and Ohio Right to Marry petitions. Look for us at all future First Fridays – July’s theme will be “Party Like It Is 1776.” Later this summer, we’ll also be at the Knox County Fair, the Flip the 12th Music Festival in Mount Vernon on July 25, and the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival. Our office is still open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm, but we are working to have extended hours starting in July. Watch for more information on our Facebook page – and in next month’s newsletter. The address is 9 E Vine Street in Mount Vernon, and we always welcome visitors! 2026 Picnic and Fundraiser: A PreviewOur picnic is coming up very soon – on Sunday, June 28, to be exact. RSVPs need to be in as soon as possible, and the quickest way is through our ActBlue page. Although our original RSVP deadline was June 12, we are extending it for a few more days. Please understand that we need to give our caterer a heads-up on attendance so we can have an appropriate amount of food. We are continuing to communicate with candidates about their possible attendance at the picnic. As of today, these candidates are confirmed:
Have a great summer, no matter what your plans, and we hope to see you at our office or at one of our events very soon. Sincerely, Kathy Tate, Knox County Democratic Party Chairwoman |
