Dear friends,
It seems like every year recently we have said, “This is the most important election of our lives.” But – oh boy! – things really have been going downhill since January 2025, so THIS REALLY IS the most important election of our lives! And we are working hard for overwhelming wins for Democrats.
How to Vote: For Democrats, Of Course
If you have not yet figured out who to vote for, you can read about the candidates endorsed for election by the Knox County Democratic Party on the Elections page on our website. We’ve provided short descriptions and a link to each candidate’s website.
All of the Democratic candidates will appear with a D alongside their names on your ballot. Vote for all of the Ds. They are amazing candidates, each and every one of them, but also consider the following:
Without Democratic Party wins in the justice races (Jennifer Brunner and Marilyn Zayas), we will have an Ohio Supreme Court that is 100% Republican. Imagine what that could mean for rights and freedoms that we hold dear!
Wins by our Ohio Senate and Ohio House candidates will help bust the Republican supermajority that has hurt our public schools, gerrymandered our election maps, and worked for their own personal enrichment. When elected, our Democratic Party candidates will be focused on making sure Ohio is a place where a good day’s work means a good day’s pay, and where our children and grandchildren can get the quality education they deserve.
Sherrod Brown as our U.S. Senator and Jerrad Christian as our Congressman will work to hold Trump accountable. Bring back the checks and balances that our founding fathers intended!
Vote Early!
I urge you to make a plan regarding when you are going to vote. And put your voting date on your calendar. Putting the date on a calendar may seem extreme, but research has shown that people who put serious planning into when they are going to vote make it to the polls at a higher rate than those who do not plan. And in this election especially, every vote is critical!
If you are able to vote early in person, we strongly encourage you to do that. Here’s the full Early Voting schedule at the Knox County Board of Elections, 104 East Sugar Street, Mount Vernon:
- Tues, Oct 6 – Fri, Oct 9: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Mon, Oct 12 – Fri, Oct 16: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Mon, Oct 19 – Fri, Oct 23: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Sat, Oct 24: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Mon, Oct 26: 7:30 am to 7:30 pm
- Tues, Oct 27: 7:30 am to 8:30 pm

Looking for a ride to Early Voting? Submit a request here. We are recruiting volunteers to help transport voters to the Board of Elections for Early Voting. If you make a request for a ride, we will do our best to schedule a convenient time with you.
Voting By Mail
If you plan to vote by mail and you have not already requested your mail-in ballot, submit your request today. On October 6, the Board of Elections will start sending out ballots to those who have requested them. Requesting your ballot well before October 6 improves the chances that your ballot will be mailed to you as early as possible.
Then, when you receive your ballot, complete it carefully and send it back right away. Even better, hand deliver it to the Board of Elections at 104 E Sugar Street, Mount Vernon.
Please note that mail-in ballots must be received by the Board of Elections by no later than 7:30 pm on Election Day (November 3). This is different from recent prior elections.
There are some worries about slowness in the postal service. So, if you do vote by mail, we recommend you put your completed ballot in the mail by no later than October 20. This will allow for two weeks for the ballot to be delivered, and we certainly hope that will be long enough! If you cannot put the ballot in the mail that quickly, please hand deliver it to the Board of Elections at 104 E Sugar Street, Mount Vernon.

Updated Office Hours — Get Your Yard Signs!
As of today, we are open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 11 am to 3 pm. Please feel free to stop by for a chat, to ask questions about candidates or voting, or to pick up a yard sign!

We have signs for most of the candidates running in our county, and we get more almost every week. If you want a yard sign:
Stop by the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, 11 am – 3 pm, to pick them up.
Fill in this form if you live on a major street (for example, Coshocton Avenue, Route 3, or Route 36) and we’ll see if we can get volunteers to bring sign(s) to you soon. And, if you requested yard sign delivery via our last email, don’t worry — We will get the signs to you soon!
