The 2019 Knox County Democratic Dinner with keynote speaker Nan Whaley, the mayor of Dayton, honors the service of Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis.
Longtime Knox County Democrats and newcomers to the community alike can appreciate the leadership of Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis over the years. As Mount Vernon’s mayor for 24 years, and as a Knox County commissioner for 20 years before that, Mayor Mavis led the way in transforming our community for the better.
A rising star in Ohio who is currently serving her second term as mayor of Dayton, Nan Whaley has led her city through difficult times, including devastating tornadoes in May and a tragic mass shooting in August. Mayor Whaley’s leadership attracted national attention and reminds us of the importance of strong leadership at the local level — something we have known for years in Knox County, with Mayor Mavis setting the example of how a visionary mayor can move a small town forward.
The Knox County Democratic Dinner will be at the Glenn Gallagher Centre on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. Dinner is served buffet style, with main a course of beef tenderloin. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with a reception featuring a cash bar.
