Our next governor and our next state senator: Two candidates who will bring the blue wave to Ohio headline the 2018 Knox County Democratic Dinner.
Richard Cordray, the Democratic candidate for governor, most recently served as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, appointed by President Obama. There, he led an agency that was launched in the aftermath of the nation’s financial crisis, dedicated to defending families against Wall Street and corporate abuse. He previously served as the attorney general of Ohio and the treasurer of Ohio, a state representative, Ohio’s first-ever solicitor general–and a five-time undefeated Jeopardy! champion.
Louis Valentine, the Democratic candidate for Ohio’s 19th senate district, is the Democrat most likely to flip a state senate seat from red to blue this year. A lifelong resident of Ohio and the mother of twin sons, Louise is passionate about saving public education in Ohio. With endorsements from the Ohio Education Association and the Fraternal Order of Police, Louise is backed by the public servants who keep us safe and prepare us for the future. Louise has led a consumer testing program for L Brands for seven years and started her career at Abercrombie and Fitch after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio State.
The dinner features a buffet-style selection of prime rib and vegetarian pasta.
Dinner service begins at 7:00 p.m. Before the dinner is an adjacent private reception with Richard Cordray, benefiting the Cordray/Sutton campaign.
